LIFE MOS - Motorways of the Sea

The LIFE MOS specific training on the Motorways of the Sea covers the integration of the E-maritime link into the overall door-to-door transport chain:

  • Integrated tracking and tracing
  • Single electronic window and Port Community Systems for the exchange of information between the service providers and users concerned by the Motorways of the Sea
  • One stop-shop for administrative issues
  • Single liability regime covering the whole intermodal chain

The courses are given from September until June, which is considered mid-low and low season.

LIFEMOS courses begin on Saturdays, as the training ship stays in the destination port on Sundays. The ship returns on Tuesdays in the afternoon.

  • Inland ports: Building the loigistic network - Description; Services
  • E-Maritime for the MOS "door-to-door" services - EDI Shortsea XML and other solutions; Track and Trace; Customs aspects
  • Cost models: direct costs and external costs
  • Environmental aspects on transport
  • Legal framework for intermodal transport operations within the European Union
  • TEN-T corridors and SSS: the present and the future

    Workshops

  • Maritime visit of the Port of Barcelona
  • Terminal operations and loading
  • Visit of the bridge
  • Visit of the engine room
  • Visit of the ship loading area
  • Visit of the facilities of the port of destination

    Practicals

  • Group work: case study and preparation of the logistics offer
  • Presentation and justification of the offer
  • Final debate
LIFE RAIL

LIFERAIL

LIFERAIL are courses of railway logistics.

LIFE RAIL offers specific training on maritime-rail, and covers the integration of the maritime-railway link into the overall door-to-door transport chain:

  • Integrated tracking and tracing
  • Single electronic window and Port Community Systems for the exchange of information between the service providers and users concerned with the maritime-railway operations
  • One stop-shop for administrative issues
  • Single liability regime covering the whole intermodal chain
  • Current perspectives, prospects and possibilities for the maritime-railways intermodality: today's balance sheet, constraints to growth, and demands

LIFERAIL-Operators and LIFERAIL Cargo courses begin on Mondays and finish on Thursdays.

LIFERAIL-AVTORITAS courses begin on Wednesdays and finish on Fridays.

It is really interesting to do the complete training on maritime and railway logistic. The duration of these courses is 7 days, from Saturday to Friday: 4 days LIFEMOS course on board, and 3 days of LIFERAIL course in Barcelona.

  • Inland ports: building the logistics network - Description; services (Operators + Cargo)
  • Terminal and operator infostructures for railway "door-to-door" services: EDI and other solutions; Track and Trace; Customs aspects (Operators + Cargo)
  • TEN-T corridors and railways: the present and the future (Operators + Cargo)
  • Cost models; direct costs and external costs (All)
  • Documentation, contracting and information for rail freight transport (Avtoritas)
  • Environmental aspects of transport on railways (All)
  • Legal framework for intermodal transport operations within the European Union (Operators + Cargo)
  • Explanation of a real intermodality case (Avtoritas)
  • Accreditation certificates of railway personnel and equipment (Cargo)
  • Railway network security (Cargo)

    Workshops

  • Visit of the Port of Gijón (Operators + Cargo)
  • Visit of the Port of Santander (Operators + Cargo)
  • Railway decomposition: visit to the engine car and to the locomotive (Cargo)
  • Visit of the railway facilities of the EBHI - bulk unloading terminal of the Port of Gijón (Operators + Cargo)
  • Visit to Can Tunis railway terminal (Avtoritas)
  • Visit to Port of Barcelona container terminal (TCB) (Avtoritas)
  • Visit to Port of Barcelona vehicle terminal - Autoterminal (Avtoritas)
  • Visit to logistics activity area - CILSA ZAL (Avtoritas)
  • Visit to ADIF traffic control centre (Avtoritas)

    Practicals (Operators + Cargo)

  • Group work: case analysis and preparation of the offer
  • Presenting and justifying the offer
  • Final debate

Materials and diploma

Participants will receive the written documents and the presentations in a printed format during the course. Additionally, once the course is completed, all of the presentations will be uploaded online for the course participants to download in pdf format.

At the end of the trip, the participants will receive a diploma proving that they have attended the course.
