LIFE RAIL Operators course is aimed at staff working in companies, the media and management related to road transport of goods and importing and exporting companies. It is especially aimed at the following departments: Management;Traffic; Commercial; Operations; and Logistics.
Course Contents
The training is divided into two parts; a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part of the course covers the following issues: Railway logistics - new frameworks, new players; Inland ports - building the logistics network (description and services); Terminals and operators infostructures for railway "door-to-door" services - EDI and other solutions, Track and Trace and Customs aspects; TEN-T Corridors and Railways: the present and the future; Cost models - direct and external costs; Environmental aspects on transport on railways; and the legal framework for intermodal transport operations within the EU. The practical part of the course involves drawing up a case study.

This course is aimed at postgraduate students studying logistics and international trade courses in universities in the EU and undergraduate and high school students taking courses in logistics or international trade. For the Spanish Universities, the course counts as a subject and credits in the training plan.
It is really interesting to do the complete training on maritime and railway logistic. The duration of these courses is 7 days, from Saturday to Friday: 4 days LIFE MOS course on board, and 3 days of LIFE RAIL course in Barcelona at the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping.
Course Content
The course will cover the following themes: Transport and railway logistics; rail-maritime infrastructures and inland ports; Documentation, contracting and information for rail freight transport; Environmental aspects on transport on railways; and an explanation of a real intermodality case. The course is also composed of various workshops for the students to attend.
Duration: 3 days
Course Participants: 35 (minimum of 1 teacher per 25 students)
Attendance on the courses will count as a subject or as a part of a subject and will provide credits in the training plan
The participation on the AVTORITAS courses will be recognised in terms of credits for different European Universities and Technical Schools.
Economic conditions
Price per participant: the price is from 200€ to 250€ depending on the number of participants and the date (price includes 3 nights accomodation at a hotel in Barcelona). The price for participants from Barcelona, not needing hotel accomodation, is 90 €.
