Between the 5th and the 7th of November the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping (2E3S) organized a WHITE MOS Operations course. The course was promoted by the Port de Barcelona, Grandi Navi Veloci, Porto di Genova and the Short Sea Promotion Centre of France (Bureau de Promotion du Shortsea BP2S).
The course was aimed at professionals and professors coming from French institutions teaching intermodality, transport and international commerce. It took place on board of a Ro-Pax vessel of Grandi Navi Veloci in the short sea shipping (SSS) crossing between Barcelona and Genoa.
The participants could observe and experience the short sea shipping activities first hand during the trip by seeing real-life intermodal transport operations. It was a first course of its kind – aiming to give the participants a unique approach to teaching intermodality in an eminently practical environment. The goal was to demonstrate how the Escola’s “on-board” courses could benefit their students, to offer room for navigation, workshops, practical visits to the vessel, debates and networking. At the same time it offered detailed and practical training and demonstrations for the professionals already active in the French transport sector.
WHITE MOS courses aim to provide training in intermodal logistics, SSS services and the motorways of the sea.
This course was carried out in French, and taught by a combination of professionals and professors from the transport sector. These included Jean Marie Millour, the director of the Short Sea Promotion Centre of France (BP2S); Nathalie Thomas, representative of the Port of Barcelona in Toulouse; Claire Pérez, representative of the Port of Barcelona in Lyon;Silvio Ferrando, Marketing and International Business Manager of the Port of Genoa and Xavier Lluch, professor at the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping and private consultant from the Spanish transport and logistics sector.
The next WHITE courses will take place in November and will be addressed to participants coming from Mexico and Spain.
