BEST terminal and collaborate to promote intermodality

On the 13th of July, the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping – –signed a collaboration agreement with the semi-automated container terminal Barcelona Europe South Terminal (BEST), the concession of which is managed by Hutchison Port Holdings Group.

The main aim of such agreement is to promote intermodal transport, fomented by the EU, through trainings directed to professionals and students that are or will be in charge of logistics chains.

As agreed upon, part of the training activities offered by the Escola will be carried out in this terminal.

BEST terminal is the first semi-automated container terminal developed by HPH Group, implementing state-of-the-art technological developments in container terminals in Spain. The terminal has one of the most modern entry/exit gate complexes in Europe and one of the largest rail terminals at a container port with an eight-track railway facility with mixed gauge (Iberian and UIC), connecting BEST daily to many different destinations in Spain and Southern Europe.

BEST is part of HPH, which in turn is the subsidiary in charge of Ports and Services of the multinational conglomerate CK Hutchison Holdings Limited (CK Hutchison).
