It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Escola Europea – Intermodal Transport. Between February and beginning of March three courses for international students took place in Barcelona, two of which were MOST (Motorways of the Sea Training) Management editions while the third one focused on Maritime Trade and Logistics.
On the 17th of February, 65 students from Artevelde – Hogeschool descended to Barcelona to embark on the course-workshop MOST Management. The course, which takes place in Barcelona and then continues on board of a Grimaldi Lines Ro-Pax vessel on the short sea shipping crossing between Barcelona and Civitavecchia and finishes again in Barcelona, aims to provide training on intermodal logistics, short sea shipping services and motorways of the sea.
The first weekend of March a second MOST Management edition was organised for students coming from the University of Barcelona. The course was carried out in Spanish and included teachers from the Escola Europea, Grimaldi Lines, Tecnocampus and the Port of Barcelona. In total, 100 students attended the training, proving the course’s growing popularity among the Spanish educational institutions. The participants came from a staggering 26 different nationalities, which gave this course an added cultural value and further enriched the overall experience.
The two MOST courses were backed by Grimaldi Lines, the Port of Barcelona and Ports of Rome.
Finally, between the 19th and the 23rd of February in the Escola’s newly completed classroom in the Drassanes Terminal, 34 students from the Italian University of Genoa completed the specialised training on maritime trade and logistics. The aim of the course was to introduce the students to international intermodal transport and logistics; show port operations, vessel and terminal facilities in detail and from a practical perspective; offer deep insight into maritime logistics, its actors, roles and market segmentation and trends; and foster critical thinking when calculating and analysing costs in logistics operations. The Port of Barcelona, BEST terminal and the Ports of Genoa collaborated with the Escola in this course by providing the facilities and teachers necessary to carry out the training.
“Good way of teaching and implementing the cases. Very good time at the boat!!! Good interaction with the teachers in the cases” ” wrote Charles Bourgois from Artevelde – Hogeschoolat the end of the course, attesting to the high quality of the course-workshop.
