The Escola launches its newest training course: Groupage & Consolidation Centres

The eminently practical course will offer a full view on intermodal logistics

16/03/2017: The Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping (2E3S.EU) presented ‘Groupage & Consolidation Centres’, its brand new training course specialized in groupage and consolidation for professionals. The presentation took place at the Escola’s headquarters and it saw the participation of its director, Eduard Rodés; the Port Community Promotion Manager at Port of Barcelona, Manel Galán; Grupo Romeu’s director, Ernesto Romeu; ATEIA-OLTRA’s president, Emilio Sanz; and Pablo Auger, director of IFS International Forwarding.

The first edition of this 4-day-course will start on 24 April. It targets different professional profiles: freight forwarders, neutral consolidators, maritime agents, shipping lines, logistics operators, dockers and loaders, transporters and also public administrations of the transport sector.

The training was organised by 2E3S.EU and counts on the participation of several companies: Globelink Uniexco, Grupo Romeu, NCL, IFS, Ibercondor and Tm2. Likewise, it is supported by Port of Barcelona and ATEIA-OLTRA.

The maritime groupage is a highly specialized sector. Therefore, up to now the training was assumed internally by the companies. The course ‘Groupage & Consolidation Centres’ represents an innovative bet since it provides, with an eminently practical approach, a full view on intermodal logistics, its actors, roles, market segmentation and evolution trends.

Door-to-door operations

The main aim of the training is to provide professionals working in consolidation companies or in companies willing to find their way in the sector, all the necessary knowledge to improve their management of transport in door-to-door operations. The participants will get a thorough observation of infrastructures and equipment, and they will analyse consolidation operations step-by-step.

The contents of the lectures were developed to take in all aspects of consolidation operations as well as all the actors involved: intermodal groupage, infrastructures and equipment at the consolidation centres; import-export procedures and quality control. The training will be completed by a series of technical visits to infrastructures and relevant companies: NVOCC’s, container terminals and road consolidation warehouses.

‘Groupage & Consolidation Centres’ is the first of a new batch of technical courses announcing the Escola’s innovative training bet. The next new course will be in June and will focus on Temperature-Controlled transport.
