According to a recent survey conducted by the ADAC, the largest automobile club in Germany.
The flagships of the Grimaldi Group, ferries “Cruise Barcelona” and “Cruise Europa”, ranked among the top six ferries with safety standards in Europe.
These are the results of a recent study by the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club), the largest automobile club in Germany and Europe, in cooperation with EuroTest. It focused on security installations in18 passenger ferries operating in the North Sea, the Baltic, the Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea.
As part of the program of consumer protection to which ADAC EuroTest belongs to, along with 17 other social clubs from Europe, last May independent internationally recognized experts in the maritime sector boarded the vessels as normal tourists and checked the status of the ferry and all safety equipment accessible to passengers. After this incognito test, experts came forward and inspected the vessel documentation and, whenever possible, fire drills.
The cruise “Barcelona” and “Cruise Europa” which are respectively run by Grimaldi Lines on the route between Civitavecchia and Barcelona and Minoan Lines (Grimaldi Group company) in Trieste and Ancona-Igoumenitsa-Patras route received a rating of “very good” and were distinguished from the other ferries for their modern safety equipment, rescue, fire fighting and fire prevention. The crew was judged as professional and well trained to handle emergency situations. In particular, simulated fire in the disco and on the car deck of the “Cruise Barcelona” and “Cruise Europa” were resolved quickly by the crew.
“Ensuring safety at sea, thus preventing the loss of life is a priority for our group,” said Emanuele Grimaldi, Director General of the Grimaldi Group. “We are very pleased with the positive expert assessment of ADAC, which recognizes the commitment and continued investment of Grimaldi Group in staff training equipment and advanced technology.”
Built between 2008 and 2010 by Fincantieri, ferries of the Grimaldi Group have been designed taking into account environmental requirements and energy saving. To underline its environmental friendliness, annotations “clean air” and “Be Clean” confirm that these vessels do not release any liquid or solid waste into marine waters.
