Grimaldi takes control of the vehicle terminal of the Port of Savona

With through-traffic of about 250,000 vehicles per year and a storage capacity of more than 6,000 units, the vehicle terminal has an area of almost 110,000 m² and operates some 750 ships per year.

The Grimaldi Group has acquired 100% of Marittima Spedizioni (agency and freight forwarder) shares, which has total control of the Savona Terminal Auto, with a concession in the port of Savona for Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax traffic whose term was extended until 2041.

The company has recently started the expansion works of its facilities, with a total investment of eight million euros. With traffic of about 250,000 vehicles per year and a storage capacity of more than 6,000 units, it will have an area of almost 110,000 m² and will operate some 750 ships per year.

The terminal of the Italian Port of Savona, located about 50 kilometers from Genoa, is currently one of the main access doors for new vehicles traveling to and from Europe.

Already both Grimaldi car carriers and Ro-Pax vessels arrive at the terminal. The volume of traffic registered by the shipping company last year reflected a constant growth, which has prompted the partners to decide on the purchase, considering that it is a decision that will benefit both parties.
