As a result of the great deal of success obtained by the SURCO (Simple Use of Railway COnnection) Operations I September edition and of the big interest of several professionals of the logistics sector, the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping (2E3S.eu) decided to launch a new edition of the same course before the end of the year. SURCO Ope. I takes place from 28th November to 1st December 2016 offering a thorough training in intermodal logistics and rail and maritime freight services, partly focused on the national port-haulier operations.
During 4 days the participants will observe the rail and maritime situation in Spain, the in-land cargo transport railway network and its technical specifications, the rail and maritime infrastructures, cargo rail terminals, etc. The course also includes visits to terminals in the Port of Barcelona area – multimodal, container, vehicles and bulk terminals – and the presentation of success cases.
SURCO Operations courses offer a full training program on railway intermodality and it is divided in two levels. The concepts learnt during SURCO Ope. I can be studied more in depth and complemented with the advanced SURCO Ope. II, more focused on the features of the international railway market.
The next edition of SURCO Ope. II will be held from 16th to 20th January 2017 (inscriptions now open).
Through the spread of information and the training, SURCO Ope. I and II courses, designed by the Escola, want to respond to nowadays sector challenges, promoting railway transport and rail and maritime connections. These courses have a pragmatic approach and allow the participants to gain specialized theoretical and practical knowledge that will help them develop efficient supply chains involving railway transport.
