Barcelona has won the award of the ‘The Global Cruise Market’ magazine thanks to its ability to effectively perform multiple simultaneous start and end of trip operations.
The Port of Barcelona has been awarded the prize for ‘Best Port of Turnaround Operations’ by ‘The Global Cruise Market’ magazine during the Seatrade Cruise Global fair. The Barcelona enclave defended its title ‘best port for the start and end of itinerary’, which it had already achieved several times in recent years.
The winners were chosen based on the opinion of global cruise business executives who, through a survey, determine the most successful and highlighted ports, terminals and destinations.
In the case of the port of Barcelona, among other things, the ability of the enclave to efficiently perform multiple simultaneous operations at the start and end of travel has been evaluated, as well as the level of service in public and private cruise terminals, operated by Cruises of the Port of Barcelona and the Carnival group, respectively.
More than half of cruise passengers visiting the port of Barcelona begin and end their journey in the Catalan capital, which is a major economic benefit for the city. In 2015, this type of passengers has increased by 11%, demonstrating the commitment of operators at the port of Barcelona.
