The Port of Barcelona participated in the 6th Spanish-Moroccan Business Summit of the Maritime sector, Transport and Logistics, that took place in Tangier. Organised by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry located in Tangier (Cecit), the edition of this year gathered more than 300 businessmen who attended several presentations and took the chance for interesting networking aiming to debvelop new projects in both countries.
The delegation of the port de Barcelona was headed by Ana Arévalo, Short Sea Shipping (SSS) Manager, who made a presentation during the opening session and explained the services and infrastructures offered by the Port to Moroccan importers and exporters, with special emphasis on the containers, car-carriers and SSS regular lines. The most important operators of the Port’s SSS lines also took part in the event to promote their regular lines and services: Grimaldi-Lines, Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV) and Grupo Suardíaz.
Ana Arévalo introduced the new SSS regular line Barcelona-Nador, taking effect next June, operated by GNV shipping line with ‘GNV Atlas’ vessel, 161m in length, 355 cabines and capacity for 2.500 passengers. Arévalo also announced that the existing regular lines between Barcelona and Tangier Med will increase their stopovers from June on.
In the same event the Most Magreb course, organised by the Escuela Europea de Short Sea Shipping, was also presented. Most Magreb is specially designed for professionals of logistics of Northern Africa and will be held in November this year with the support of the ports of Barcelona and Tangier Med.
