The Memorandum of Understanding between Rete Autostrade Mediterranee Spa (RAM), Italian association to promote the Motorways of the Sea, and the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping (2E3S.eu) was signed on the 1st of July in Naples, during the “Italy between the European and Mediterranean corridors” congress organised by RAM in the framework of the Naples Shipping Week 2016 event.
After the presentation of the reports dealing with the main topic “Building of the Pan Mediterranean dialogue between stakeholders and the developed policies for an integrated system of transport and logistics”, the President and CEO of RAM, Antonio Cancian, and the Director of the Escola, Eduard Rodés, closed the collaboration agreement with the objective of developing common initiatives to promote short sea shipping and intermodal transport through innovative training courses and projects.
Thanks to this close synergy, the RAM and the Escola will undertake several actions and initiatives such as co-working in projects financed by European funds – that will see the involvement of other countries of the Mediterranean area – or launching specialized courses for professionals to promote short sea shipping and the Motorways of the Sea and also to develop intermodal transport.
About Rete Autostrade Mediterranee Spa – RAM
RAM was born in 2004 with the objective of implementing the national programme of the motorways for the sea within the larger context of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), with a special focus on the Motorways of the Sea transversal corridor. RAM, a society that forms part of the Italian Infrastructures and Transport Ministry, with a capital funded entirely by the Economics and Finance Ministry, aims mainly to develop the networks of maritime transport and evaluate the strategic contribution that these networks can provide to the connection system of the Euromediterranean area and to the door to door supply chain.
