This year the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping – 2E3S.eu marks an important milestone as it turns ten years old. To celebrate its birthday, the Escola is organising a Gala Dinner, which will be held inside the Maritime Museum of Barcelona on the 29th of September 2016.
The event is also part of the European Shortsea Conference 2016, which will take place on the 28-29 of September in the World Trade Centre in Barcelona. The conference participants, the partners and teachers of 2E3S, key opinion leaders as well as ex-alumni will be invited to join the celebration where more than 200 people are expected.
The celebration will kick off with speeches by Sixte Cambra, the President of the Port of Barcelona and the Escola, and Eduard Rodés, the Director of the Escola. Then a retrospective video of the first 10 years of training activities will be showed and an award ceremony will take place, as an acknowledgement to some contributors of the Escola’s growth and success. Finally after the live performance of a classical music ensemble who will play the Escola’s hymn “A walk around the Port”, the dinner will start.
The Escola recently launched a mini-website dedicated to its 10th anniversary. The programme of the event, key information and facts of our first 10 years, as well as the latest news can be found on this website, together with details on how to register: www.2e3s10years.com
10 years of the Escola
“The Escola turns 10 years old and it’s a time for celebration. It was a decade of commitments with ourselves and our students, with the port, the logistics community and with the society. 10 years inspired by the blue spirit and influenced by a European and particularly Mediterranean environment to build a bright and common future for everybody, based on who we are and what we do. 10 years creating a place to share knowledge and values within a context of dialogue and fostering relationships between people. 10 years with a universal goal to reach everybody. And with an ambition limitless in its contents, aimed at improving our society every day. There are many reasons to share the achievements of the past and to celebrate them, and there are many reasons to participate in and commit ourselves to a future full of new hopes and projects, a future where we would like you to be with us.” Eduard Rodés, Director of the Escola.
This celebration is crucial for the Escola as it cements its role as a benchmark for training and consultancy within the sector in Europe.
