The electric vehicle charging units at Sant Carles Marina incorporate two Telsa chargers
Electric vehicle charging points featuring Tesla chargers have been installed at Spain’s Sant Carles Marina by MDL Marinas, in partnership with Ports de la Generalitat.
The new units incorporate two Tesla chargers, one designed exclusively for Tesla vehicles and the second available for electric vehicles with a Type 2 Mennekes Connector.
Adrien Burnand, head of marketing at MDL Marinas, commented: “We are always striving to…recognise the increased demand for electric vehicles and charging points. Following last year’s UK launch and the popularity of the chargers, we are delighted to be introducing electric charging points into Spain, which is a key hub for leisure marine travel and cruising.”
MDL Marinas is the first marina operator in Spain and the UK to offer electric vehicle charging points, paving the way for the technology to be used in global ports.
In 2016, the charging points were installed at Ocean Village Marina in Southampton, Cobb’s Quay Marina in Poole, Queen Anne’s Battery in Plymouth and Hamble Point Marina.
In February this year, DP World group chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, discussed the potential uses of Tesla technology for DP World’s global operations.
Topics revolved around the use of Tesla battery solutions for renewable energy storage in the global operator’s ports and terminals in Africa, India and Latin America.
